This week, we learned about visual semiotics. Visual semiotics is a sub-domain of semiotics that analyses the way visual images communicate a message. Theoretically, it means to reflect, observe and explanation of abstract principles.

Ferdinand de Saussure 1857-1913 (Swiss Professor of Linguistics)

> Saussure's model : Signified (fact) ----> Signifier (representation / interpretation)

Charles Sanders Peirce 1839-1914 (American Philosopher)

> Peirce's Model : Interpretation can be interpreted again & again

Denotation - literal association (muscle, blood, organ)

Connotation - idea ( valentines, emotion, romance)

Gestalt : psychology of visual perceptions

Index : Hints

Metasymbol : trancends the tangible realm (things that are not seen)

: for example - religious & magical symbols

So, this is all we learned in the class.
